Alma Doepel was taken to Port Macquarie in April 2001 at time of change in the Board of Sail & Adventure Ltd. She was not `in survey¹ and was in effect a private vessel. During this period she was maintained by local volunteers as a museum ship open to the public alongside Lady Nelson Wharf.
During 2008 Alma spent two short periods in the dry-dock further up the Hastings River and, after sea-trials off Port Macquarie, headed south again to her current home in Victoria Harbour, Melbourne.
