The Alma Doepel Supporters Club was formed in 1976, with the aim of supporting the Alma Doepel in whatever ways were practical and achievable. At one time the ADSC numbered almost a thousand signed up members. A lot of these members joined as a result of participating in a cruise in Port Phillip, therefore (naturally) many of these were "one-time" members. Nevertheless, many remained staunch, and now that Alma has fallen on comparatively hard times, those that have remained as members are working toward encouraging past members to re-join the ADSC. Our current president, Capt Ralph McDonell, was one of the original members almost thirty years ago, and is the author of the book "ALMA DOEPEL - The History of An Australian Schooner - 1903 - 1975". The book has been out of print for some years now, but with the ship now back in Melbourne and with the generous support of a loan from Lend Lease we have now had the book reprinted as the standard version and also as a special limited and numbered edition. Please see the item "Alma Doepel book" on the home page of this web-site to order copies.
Fees are still only $20 for single and $30 for family membership, and a membership form is included in this website. All it takes is to print it out, fill it in and post it with a cheque! Click Here for our Membership Application Form. The ADSC meets on the first Thursday of every month at the Alma Doepel restoration site: Shed 2, North Wharf Road, Victoria Harbour, Docklands. Meetings commence at 7.30pm. Contact details for the ADSC are:
